Delivering public education and awareness campaigns regarding the Political Parties Commission (PPC), The Office of the Registrar of Political Parties (ORPP), and the provisions of the PPIA & applicable laws that is critical to fostering an informed and engaged electorate. These campaigns aim to educate the public about their rights and civic duties/responsibilities, the functioning of political parties, and the importance of integrity in the political process. Various channels, including media broadcasts, social media, community workshops, and educational materials, are used to reach a broader audiance. Increasing public awareness helps in building a more transparent and accountable political environment, as citizens become more vigiliant and proactive in demanding ethical conduct from political parties and their representatives.

Political Parties Commission (PPC) | The Office of the Registrar of Political Parties (ORPP)

The Political Parties Commission (PPC), through the Office of the Registrar of Political Parties (ORPP), has been actively implementing a Nation-Wide civic awareness initiatives in Solomon Islands since its first establishement. This campaign has played a pivitol role in the Commission’s mission to strengthen democratic values and promote informed political participation in Solomon Islands.

Since, 2018, the V4P campaigns has been rolled out in several provinces, including Western Province, Central Province, Malaita Province, Makira-Ulawa Province, Honiara City, and Choiseul Province. The campaign has reached communities, churches, and schools, emphasising the need to prioritize party policies over personalities, and fostering an understanding of the role of political parties in our democratic system.

Whilst these efforts have been made a positive impact, the persistent lack of civic knowledge about the political party system and voters responsibilities continues to pose a significance challenge in many rural and remote areas, subsequently, we have seen repeatedly in various election cycle. in addition, some provinces such as Isabel have not yet been fully engaged under the current program scope.

Apart from the V4P campaign, PPC also looking at;

  2. International events – One of the key International events that is core-led by Political Parties Commission is the International Day of Democracy (IDD).
  3. Creation of Pamphlets about the Commission/ORPP
  4. Stakeholders collaboration
  5. Students research
