PROCESS FOR REGISTRATION
1. Submission Requirements: Section 19(1)
2. Schedule of Members Section 19(2)
The application must be:
- Submitted to: the Registrar
- Form: in the prescribed form (PPI 1 Form)
- Fee: accompanied by the prescribed fee
It must include:
- (a) The proposed name of the political party.
- (b) The proposed symbol of the political party, in colored representation.
- (c) The names and details of the executive office holders.
- (d) The party’s constitution, manifesto, policies, and strategies.
- (e) The signatures of both the President and Secretary of the political party.
Must also include a Schedule of Members:
- Form: In the prescribed form (PPI Form 2)
- Must contain at least 250 members
- All must be registered voters under the National Parliament Electoral Provisions Act (Cap.87)
- Must be certified by the Electoral Commission confirming that the members are duly registered voters.
3. Registrar’s Review (Section 19(3)
- The Registrar will inspect the application
- The Registrar may require:
- Corrections to the application
- Additional information or documents needed to complete the application
4. Summary of Key Steps:
- Complete the application form, pay the fee.
- Include all required information: name, symbol, leaders, constitution, manifesto, policies, and strategies.
- Attach a list of 250+ certified members who are registered voters.
- Submit to the Registrar, who may ask for further clarification or corrections.
